The guard ship "Intrepid" went to the Baltic Sea for testing after repairs
The patrol ship (TFR) "Undaunted" of project 11540 "Hawk" has entered the Baltic Sea for testing. The vessel underwent repair and modernization at the Baltic Shipyard "Yantar", which is part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC). This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the plant.
"On February 15, the Undaunted TFR sailed into the Baltic Sea and began to implement the acceptance testing program. During the first trip to the sea, the operation of the main power plant and the navigation system of the ship will be checked," the message said.
During the tests, the ship will make several trips to the sea with a total duration of up to 30 days. The delivery team of the Yantar plant and the Baltic Fleet commission are working on the ship, which will receive the ship after repair and modernization. The TFR will be handed over to the Navy after the completion of sea trials. The Intrepid will continue to serve in the Baltic Fleet.
TFR "Intrepid" became the first ship of project 11540 "Hawk". The vessel was launched in 1988, and in 1991 the TFR became part of the Baltic Fleet. In 2014, the ship arrived at the PSZ for scheduled repairs.
The TFR is designed to combat nuclear submarines. The ship received a naval bomb launcher and an anti-submarine complex "Waterfall-NK" with torpedo tubes. Also, the "Intrepid" carries a Ka-27 deck helicopter, which provides search and defeat of submarines, and an AK-100 artillery installation. Anti-aircraft complexes "Dagger" and "Dirk" provide protection from air attack.
In January, a source in the military-industrial complex reported that the Russian Navy adopted the anti-submarine complex "Response".
In December, Izvestia, citing sources in the Russian Defense Ministry, reported that by the end of 2022, the Russian Navy will include a large anti-submarine ship Admiral Levchenko.
