MOSCOW, Feb 16 - RIA Novosti. The intensity of flights near the Russian borders of American strategic bombers in 2021 increased by 40%, said Mikhail Popov, Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council.
"It is impossible not to note the significant activation of the US armed forces in the western strategic direction. In particular, over the past year alone, the intensity of flights of American strategic bombers near the Russian borders has increased by 40%," Popov said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
He added that the intensity of aerial reconnaissance "in order to identify the possibilities of breaking through Russian restricted access zones," primarily in the Kaliningrad region and Crimea, has almost doubled.
"The provocative activity of NATO ships in the Black Sea zone continues," Popov added.
