Bloomberg: The European Union will spend 6 billion euros on an analogue of the British OneWeb system
The European Union will spend 6 billion euros on an analogue of the British OneWeb system, Bloomberg reports, referring to the European Commissioner for the internal market, Thierry Breton.
2.4 billion will be allocated from the EU budget for the project. The remaining funds should come from EU countries and European industrial groups. "This is of paramount importance in terms of our strategic and technical sovereignty," Breton said.
In February, the Soyuz-ST-B rocket with 34 OneWeb satellites launched from the Kourou cosmodrome.
In January, Space24 reported that in mid-December last year, Airbus and OneWeb signed a partnership agreement to provide satellite communications services in low Earth orbit in the interests of the military in Europe.
