The ministry noted that foreign products and services in this area often outperform domestic ones
MOSCOW, February 16. /tass/. The existing domestic telecommunications and geoinformation space systems do not fully meet the challenges facing the Russian economy in the framework of digital transformation, follows from the "White Paper" of High Technologies in Russia and abroad, posted on the website of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
As specified in the materials, telecommunication and geoinformation space systems make it possible to implement services that are in demand in various sectors of the economy. "However, the available domestic solutions do not fully meet the challenges of the digital transformation of the Russian economy and the growing needs for space infocommunication services," the White Paper says.
As specified in the document, foreign products and services in this area often outperform domestic ones, while foreign companies reduce the cost of services through the introduction of multiple launch vehicle systems, standardization and organization of mass production.
The emerging backlog can be overcome by developing promising space systems, including the creation of multi-satellite orbital groupings. "In our country, the federal project "Integrated development of space information technologies for 2022-2030" (previously the subprogram "Sphere") has been launched, for the implementation of which the state corporation "Roscosmos" is responsible. The project provides for measures aimed at meeting the needs of government and commercial customers in modern products and services based on space technologies," the White Paper says.
The implementation of the project will provide satellite communications, digital broadcasting and high-speed Internet access throughout the Russian Federation, as well as satellite Internet of Things. "Another important result will be the widespread introduction of services based on Earth remote sensing technologies into the activities of enterprises in various sectors of the economy, social sphere and public administration," the document says.
