MOSCOW, February 15. /tass/. Anti-aircraft gunners of the Western Military District have worked out the cover of columns of military equipment departing to permanent deployment points after successfully conducted exercises. This was reported on Tuesday in the press service of the ZVO.
"The combat crews of the Igla man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems and ZU-23 anti-aircraft installations worked out the tasks of repelling an air attack by a simulated enemy during the march of armored columns of one of the formations of the Western Military District at the loading station for further departure to a permanent deployment point in the Nizhny Novgorod region," the Military District reported.
The press service noted that during the movement of columns to the loading station, anti-aircraft gunners improved their skills in the use of weapons to destroy helicopters, armored vehicles, ground objects and manpower of a conditional enemy at ranges up to 5 km.
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Igor Konashenkov, told reporters that the units of the Southern and Western military districts that have completed the tasks have already begun loading onto rail and road transport and will begin moving to their military garrisons on February 15.
