MOSCOW, Feb 15 - RIA Novosti. Small anti-submarine ships of the Baltic Fleet repelled an air raid of a simulated enemy with artillery during the exercise, the information support department of the Baltic Fleet's press service told reporters.
"As part of the planned exercise, the crews of the small anti-submarine ships (MPC) "Aleksin" and "Kabardino-Balkaria" of the Baltic Fleet water area protection ships performed artillery firing on air targets in one of the fleet's combat training ranges," the report says.
It is noted that practical firing during training to repel air attack attacks from various heights and directions were conducted from AK-176M and AK-630M artillery installations.
In addition, the crews of the ships carried out the installation of defensive minefields in the specified areas using training mines. Later, they were neutralized by a raid minesweeper.
Naval minefields are used to obstruct the passage of enemy vessels through sea communications, as well as to impede the penetration of its ships, submarines, torpedoes into harbors, ports, raids and landing sites, the department explained. Contact and non-contact naval mines are used in the construction of such barriers.
