The medium-range anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) with a Belarusian-made missile is in Belarus at the final stage of testing.
This was announced by the chairman of the State Military-Industrial Committee of the Republic Dmitry Pantus on the air of the STV TV channel.
"It is worth noting the launches of an anti-aircraft missile system of medium range. There were three stages of testing, and in the first quarter of 2022 we have already reached the final stage of testing, they will be conducted literally in a week, extreme tests with live firing, after which it will be possible to say with confidence, if we succeed, about the creation of a fully Belarusian anti-aircraft missile system, our domestic missile," the head of the department noted.
According to Pantus, "the rocket is of the main importance - it is primarily the economy, competencies." "For us, this is the top today, the key direction to which we pay special attention. The creation of weapons of destruction is one of our key tasks," he explained.
The head of the GVPC said that in terms of air defense, Belarusian specialists are working in two key areas - means of destruction and means of electronic warfare, radio intelligence.
"If we talk about the means of destruction, then just recently work was completed on the modernization of the Osa air defense system complex. Today it is undergoing research tests at the Ministry of Defense, and special attention is also being paid to it," Pantus informed.
"And, of course, these are Belarusian-made medium-range air defense systems, their own missiles. I think that in 2022 we will officially launch this ROC (development work - approx. We will complete it in full and the products will be delivered in accordance with the established procedure within the framework of the state armament program to our armed forces," the head of the State Military Industry of Belarus noted.
