In the sphere of military-technical cooperation with Iran, Russia does not consider itself bound by any embargo, including missile, and will act within the framework of the international legal framework, based on its interests and the interests of Tehran.
This was stated by the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Afghanistan, Director of the second Asia Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Zamir Kabulov.
"I should have stopped you at first when you said about the lifting of the missile embargo. There is no such embargo. There is only one embargo, which ended in October 2020. There is no separate missile embargo," Kabulov said in an interview with Interfax timed to coincide with the Day of the Diplomatic Worker.
According to him, "this is part of the common, so there is no longer a legitimate embargo recognized by us, which was imposed by the UN Security Council."
"All the other stuff - it doesn't concern us. Therefore, there is no separate missile embargo," the source stressed.
"If our relevant departments have such an interest, and it will be mutual, then, of course, we do not feel bound by anything. We will act in the international legal field and cooperate with Iran in any industry where it will meet our and Iranian interests," Kabulov said.
