Domestic UAZ-469 and UAZ-3151 all-terrain vehicles continue to be used in many armed forces and law enforcement agencies of the world. There are still quite a lot of them in Africa.
For example, the Ghanaian army has adapted Ulyanovsk jeeps for the installation of small arms and anti-tank weapons. They received 14.5 mm heavy machine guns Vladimirova (KPV), capable of hitting various ground targets at a range of up to 2000 meters, including light military equipment. So, at a distance of half a kilometer, more than 30 mm of armor breaks through.
Even more impressive capabilities to combat armored personnel carriers, reconnaissance, infantry fighting vehicles, as well as tanks (although they do not have multi-layer armor and dynamic protection) are widely distributed on this continent 106-mm American recoilless guns M40, also used on UAZ.
Their feature is a 12.7-mm M8 machine gun mounted above the barrel. The weight of the gun is 209 kg. Length - 3404 mm. The firing range, depending on the type of projectiles, is 1200-1350 meters, the maximum is 6800 meters.
Cumulative shots can penetrate up to 350 mm of armor. It was reported about the development of versions for which 700 mm was not a problem, but it is unlikely that they got to Ghana.
It is not known whether the military of this country has anti-personnel fragmentation tracer shells equipped with six thousand miniature steel arrows.
Such jeeps are also used here as tractors for towing 14.5-mm ZPU-2 and "Slingshots" - ZU-23-2, designed both for air defense and for combating ground objects.
Earlier it was reported that in various hot spots on the UAZ-469 and UAZ-3151, it was possible to see installations of anti-tank guided missiles, automatic, machine-gun grenade launchers and even multiple rocket launchers.
