In 2021, China carried out 55 space launches
BEIJING, February 9. /tass/. China plans to carry out six spacecraft launches in 2022 to complete the construction of its orbital station. This was announced on Wednesday by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC).
It published summary data on the achievements of the country's aerospace industry for 2021 and plans for 2022. The PRC intends to launch two Tianzhou space trucks, two Shenzhou manned spacecraft with astronauts on board, as well as two experimental modules of the orbital station, Wentian and Mengtian, within a year.
In 2021, China carried out 55 space launches and ranked first in the world in this indicator, overtaking the United States (51 launches). This year, China intends to make more than 50 launches. More than 140 spacecraft, including satellites for various purposes, will be put into orbit.
Beijing is actively developing the national space program, developing meteorological, telecommunications and navigation satellites, as well as technologies for the exploration of the Moon. Chinese scientists are simultaneously carrying out a project to explore asteroids and Mars. The construction of the PRC space station is underway in orbit, which according to the plan should be operational in 2022.
