Preliminary tests of the BTR-3F floating armored personnel carrier for the Russian Navy marines are being completed. Kurganmashzavod is ready for mass production of the machine, writes TASS with reference to the press service of Rostec Corporation.
- Testing of the BTR-3F lasted more than a year. The waterworthiness of the machine was tested in marine conditions. Firing tests were carried out, the product showed resistance to external influences, including from conventional weapons," the state corporation said.
Kurganmashzavod has prepared equipment for serial production of the armored personnel carrier. It will begin after the signing of the contract with the Ministry of Defense.
The tracked floating BTR-3F is based on the naval version of the BMP-3F. Instead of the standard turret box, a high cabin with additional armor protection is installed on the APC. The landing compartment of the transporter accommodates 14 marines with weapons. The weight of the car is 18.9 tons, it can be transported by military transport aircraft. The APC is armed with a large-caliber machine gun "Cord" in a remote-controlled module.
