Nanosatellites developed by Sputnix will be launched during 2022
MOSCOW, February 8. /tass/. HSE students will be involved in the project of creating a group of nanosatellites for monitoring navigation, including in the Arctic along the Northern Sea Route. This was reported to TASS by the press service of Sitronics Group.
"HSE participates in the project of satellite monitoring of shipping. Students of the Higher School of Economics are taking part in the project of the Russian satellite Automatic Identification System (AIS) for monitoring navigation. It will monitor and adjust the routes of ships, including in the Arctic along the Northern Sea Route," the press service noted.
As specified in the group, nanosatellites on the domestic CubeSat 3U (30x10x10 cm) format platform developed by Sputnix (part of Sitronics Group) will be launched during 2022. "Its payload consists of the AIS hardware and software complex, which receives navigation data from ships. Further, the collected information from the spacecraft is transmitted to ground stations and processed," the press service said.
The spacecraft will be controlled from the Flight Control Centers of the HSE and Sputnix. The mission will be implemented within the framework of the Space-PI program with the financial support of the Innovation Promotion Fund within the framework of the "Duty on the Planet" competition. The HSE, the press service added, plans to open a master's program "Information Systems and Technologies" to train young specialists in the field of space technologies.
The Space-Pi program is a scientific and educational project for the development and production of small spacecraft (Cubesat format, 10x10x10 cm satellites) on a Russian digital platform.
