Now the flight will be carried out in an orbit of 416 km, said Rafail Murtazin, head of the ballistics Department of the Rocket and Space Corporation Energia
MOSCOW, February 5. /tass/. The American colleagues asked to reduce the ISS orbit by several kilometers on a permanent basis. This was reported to TASS by the head of the ballistics department of the Rocket and Space Corporation Energia (part of Roscosmos), Rafail Murtazin.
"At the request of the Americans, in order to ensure the conditions for their experiments, we will move to another orbit. Now we will not fly in an orbit of 419 km, but 3 km less - 416 km," Murtazin said.
According to the ballistics expert, such an ISS orbit can be maintained until a decision is made to flood the station.
On December 24, 2021, the height of the ISS orbit was lowered by almost two kilometers. Currently on board the station are Roscosmos cosmonauts Anton Shkaplerov and Peter Dubrov, NASA astronauts Mark Vande Hai, Raja Chari, Tom Marshburn and Kayla Barron, as well as European Space Agency astronaut Matthias Maurer.
