TSAMTO, February 4. The Turkish parliament has ratified the Shusha Declaration on Military Cooperation with Azerbaijan, RIA Novosti reports.
Earlier, the Milli Majlis (Parliament of Azerbaijan) approved the Shusha Declaration on allied Relations with Turkey, the agency reminds.
The Shusha Declaration, submitted earlier for discussion in the Foreign Affairs Commission signed by Parliament Speaker Mustafa Shentop, was highly appreciated by the Foreign Relations Commission and submitted for discussion in parliament as a "historically important document".
Following the discussion, 266 deputies voted for the adoption of the document.
The text of the Shusha Declaration signed by the Presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan Tayyip Erdogan and Ilham Aliyev on June 15 last year, in particular, states that both countries will act jointly in the event of a threat or aggression from a third state. The declaration also noted that "the parties will continue joint efforts to modernize the armed forces of the two fraternal countries in accordance with modern requirements," RIA Novosti reports.
