"On January 24, 2022, the border service authorities, in cooperation with the Air Force and air defense units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, recorded the fact of violation of the State Border of Belarus in the airspace from Ukraine by an unmanned aerial vehicle, which was subsequently forced to land by the air defense units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus. As a result of the analysis of the information contained on the on-board equipment of the UAV, the fact of its launch from the territory of Ukraine was confirmed," the Defense Ministry said.
It was established that the UAV was launched on January 24 at 10.58 in the area of the village of Food in the Kovel district of the Volyn region, 1.7 km from the border with Belarus.
"After gaining working height, I crossed the State Border of the Republic of Belarus near the village of Khmelishche, Maloritskiy district. Then, in accordance with the flight task, he proceeded to the area of the deployment of the Brest training ground," the department noted.
In connection with the incident on February 3, the military attache for defense issues at the Embassy of Ukraine in Belarus, Colonel S.Y. Katsuba, was summoned to the Belarusian Defense Ministry, who was handed a note of protest in connection with the increased cases of violation of the State Border of Belarus by Ukraine (this is the third since November 2021), and also stated the need to conduct proceedings on this fact and inform the Belarusian side about its results, BelTA writes.
