Ukraine, Britain and Poland intend to create a new alliance. Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba told several facts about the new association.
He wrote about this on his Facebook page. Kuleba noted that it was Ukraine that made the proposal for trilateral cooperation back in October last year.
"I am grateful to colleagues and friends Liz Truss and Zbigniew Rau, who responded vividly, and trilateral work has begun through the Foreign Ministries of the three countries, to which each country makes an equally important contribution," he added.
The new format of cooperation is part of the strategy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding small alliances as a proactive foreign policy, since they are given special attention in the Strategy of Foreign Policy Activities.
According to the minister, Ukraine cannot just wait for joining the EU and NATO, which is why it was decided to rally friendly countries into small alliances. In this context, he recalled the creation of the Lublin Triangle with Poland and Lithuania, the Quadriga with Turkey, as well as the Associated Trio with Georgia and Moldova.
"We are creating a belt of security and prosperity and strengthening the Baltic-Black Sea axis. [...] All of them are successfully developing, gaining weight, and already today they bring specific advantages to Ukraine," the minister stressed.
The new format of cooperation will unite countries that share common principles, strive to strengthen security and develop trade. At the same time, such cooperation will not be tied to local geography. Warsaw, Kiev and London have great potential for trilateral cooperation in trade, investment, and energy, including renewable energy.
