Roscosmos: a full-fledged mock-up of the Angara-A5M heavy rocket will be tested at Vostochny
In 2023, it is planned to test a full-fledged electric refueling ground model of the Angara-A5M heavy rocket at the Russian Vostochny cosmodrome, Roscosmos reports .
According to Sergey Kuznetsov, the general designer of the Salyut Design Bureau (KB), the tests will be conducted "in order to eliminate the risks of damage to the flight rocket."
"Those systems that participate in refueling and preparation at the launch complex are made fully functional in the mock-up so that they can be used to work out ground systems before refueling the first flight rocket. Also, the layout will allow us to work out all mechanical assembly operations at the technical complex," the general designer said.
In December 2021, Roscosmos announced that firing tests of the RD-191M engine of the Angara-A5M carrier would begin in 2022.
At the same time, RIA Novosti, referring to a source of the Russian Defense Ministry, reported that in 2022 it is planned to launch three Angara missiles from Plesetsk — two heavy Angara-A5 and one light Angara-1.2.
