MOSCOW, February 1. /tass/. The troops of the Eastern Military District (VVO) have been deployed to a distance of up to 10 thousand km as part of the verification of the reaction forces of the Union State, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Tuesday.
"In accordance with the decision of the Presidents of Russia and Belarus, the reaction forces of the Union State are being checked. From the Russian armed forces, the military administration bodies and units of the Eastern Military District are involved. The first stage of verification is currently underway. The troops have been deployed to a distance of up to 10 thousand km, including aviation units and military units of air defense," Shoigu said on a conference call.
According to him, now "the protection and defense of state and military facilities, the state border in the airspace is organized within the framework of the Unified Regional Air Defense System of Belarus and Russia."
About verification
The verification of the reaction forces of the Union State will take place in two stages. By February 9, at the first stage, the redeployment and creation of groups of troops (forces) will be carried out as soon as possible on the territory of Belarus, the organization of the protection and defense of important state and military facilities, the protection of the state border in the airspace, checking the readiness and ability of the air defense forces and means on duty to perform tasks to cover important facilities.
From February 10 to 20, during the second stage of the inspection, the joint exercises "Allied Resolve - 2022" will take place, within the framework of which the issues of suppressing and repelling external aggression, as well as protecting the interests of the Union State and countering terrorism will be worked out.
The practical actions of the troops (forces) will take place at the Gozhsky, Obuz-Lesnovsky, Domanovsky, Brest and Osipovichi ranges, as well as in certain areas of the terrain that are located on the territory of Belarus. It is planned to use Luninets, Baranovichi, Lida and Machulishchi airfields. As reported in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the number of military personnel and equipment involved in the exercises falling under the Vienna Document of 2011 does not exceed the parameters defined by it, which are subject to notification.
