Defense Express: The Navy has created a layered defense system with the Neptune complex
The Naval Forces of Ukraine (VMSU) conducted a number of exercises to prepare for the repulse of the landing forces of the Russian Navy. During the maneuvers, the coastal missile system "Neptune" was used. This is reported by Defense Express.
"Most likely, the Kremlin will decide on a large-scale amphibious operation, the zone of which will cover the ports of Nikolaev and Bolshaya Odessa. So the Russians will be able to solve two tasks at once "with one blow" — "cutting off" from the Black Sea and at least partially blocking shipping to our Black Sea ports," Defense Express writes.
To repel attacks from the sea, the Navy has developed a layered defense in which the Neptune coastal missile system will become the main weapon. In turn, to combat small-sized targets, they plan to use naval aviation and boats of the "Gyurza" and Island types. Also, the defense system will be supplemented by marine infantry units, barrel artillery, multiple rocket launchers and tanks.
The publication notes that the Ukrainian military conducted a number of exercises to practice the defense of the coast and ports. During the maneuvers in the northwestern part of the Black Sea, the calculation of the Neptune complex performed a march to a given area and made an electronic launch on the ships of a conditional enemy.
In December, the commander of the Navy Alexei Neizhpapa told about the new armament of the Ukrainian fleet. He noted that Island-type boats will receive artillery installations and missiles.
