TSAMTO, January 31. Deliveries to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation of Boa pistols developed by Tsniitochmash of Rostec State Corporation in a special configuration with a silencer are scheduled to begin in 2023.
Earlier, in October 2021, the Commander-in-chief of the Ground Forces, Oleg Salyukov, in an interview with the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda, said that the Russian Defense Ministry was starting to purchase new Boa pistols in combined-arms and special configurations to replace Makarov pistols.
The 9-mm self-loading pistol 6P72 ("Boa"), developed by the leading design engineer of Tsniitochmash Ivan Kozlov, has a number of advantages compared to its "classmates". In particular, cartridges with a reduced bullet velocity and with a bullet of increased penetration have become one of the novelties. In addition, the owner of the "Boa" helps to control the consumption of cartridges with a pointer of their quantity located in the store.
The new pistol fits well in the hand, is suitable for right-handed and left-handed people, and also received a universal Picatinny rail. A laser designator or a flashlight is attached to it. With a length of 206 mm and a thickness of 36 mm, the pistol without cartridges weighs only 780 gr– - this weight was achieved thanks to the use of modern polymer materials. Another advantage of the new weapon is the large capacity of the "Boa" magazine. It holds 18 rounds, which can be considered one of the best indicators in the world.
The pistol is included in the "snake" line created at Tsniitochmash, which also includes the "Gyurza", "Poloz" and "Aspid" models, the press service of Rostec Group reports.
As specified in the press service of the Central Military District, the first 6P72 "Boa" pistols will receive special-purpose units of the Central Military District stationed in the Novosibirsk and Samara regions. New samples will replace the officers' personal weapons by the end of this year.
The 9x21 mm Boa pistol is designed to defeat enemy manpower at a range of up to 100 m, including those protected by personal protective equipment.
In the configuration for special purpose units, the "Boa" has removable components: a silent firing device, combined target designators of the visible and infrared spectrum. The devices included in the complete set of weapons remain operational in the temperature range from -50 to +50 degrees C.
