Yonhap: North Korea confirmed the launch of a medium-range ballistic missile on January 30
North Korea has confirmed that it has successfully tested a medium-range ballistic missile. This is reported by the South Korean Yonhap news agency.
The launch towards the Sea of Japan took place on January 30. It is specified that the rocket flew about 800 kilometers, the maximum altitude was 2000 kilometers. The speed of the rocket exceeded the speed of sound by 16 times. This is the seventh launch since the beginning of 2022.
According to the agency, this demonstration raises concerns that North Korea will indeed lift the moratorium on nuclear tests and launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles. Pyongyang made a corresponding statement on January 20.
Due to the new tests, South Korea and Japan decided to convene national security councils. The Pentagon said that the DPRK missile launch did not pose an immediate threat to the United States.
