Combined arms deliveries of 9x21-mm pistols began in 2021
MOSCOW, January 28. /tass/. The latest "Boa" pistols in a special configuration with a silencer will begin to enter the Russian Armed Forces in 2023. The first pistols in the combined arms configuration have already been received by the troops, the press service of the Rostec State Corporation told TASS.
"Combined arms deliveries of 9x21-mm Boa pistols to the Ministry of Defense began in 2021. In 2023, it is planned to start delivering a pistol in a special configuration with a silencer," Rostec said.
On October 1, 2021, the Commander-in-chief of the Ground Forces, Oleg Salyukov, in an interview with the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda, said that the Russian Defense Ministry was starting to purchase new Boa pistols in two configurations (combined arms and special) to replace Makarov pistols (PM).
"Boa" was developed by the Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering (TSNIITOCHMASH) of the Rostec State Corporation. The design of the new pistol uses original solutions, among the patented technologies is the design of the magazine, which is an indicator of the number of cartridges, which both visually and tactilely allows you to determine a fully loaded magazine. In addition, the pistol complex provides a silencer with a replaceable heat-absorbing module and two types of cartridges - increased penetration and reduced bullet velocity.
The effective firing range of the Boa pistol reaches 100 m. It is capable of piercing individual body armor (including fabric) and second-class helmets at a distance of up to 75 m. It works in the temperature range from minus 50 degrees to plus 50 degrees. Weight with magazine (without cartridges) - only 780 g, length - 206 mm, height - 145 mm. The magazine capacity is 18 rounds of 9X21 mm. The warranty shot is 10,000 shots.
