The Drive: Territorial defense units of Ukraine are armed with DP-27 machine guns
The territorial defense units of Ukraine may be armed with pre-war DP-27 machine guns, writes the American edition of The Drive, which drew attention to the corresponding video posted on YouTube.
The publication recalls that the DP-27, used by the Soviet military during the conflict with Finland before World War II, is distinguished by a simple frost-resistant design. It is noted that the disc-shaped magazine of the machine gun, capable of making about 550 rounds per minute, holds 47 rounds of 7.62 by 54 millimeters.
In the publication, The Drive refers, in particular, to the portal message mil.in.ua, which tells about the training of Ukrainian soldiers of the territorial defense forces to use DP-27 machine guns. "The skills with the use of machine guns were improved by the soldiers of the Brovarsky Territorial Defense Battalion. The Brovarsky battalion is part of the 114th separate territorial defense brigade located in the Kiev region," the note says.
In January, the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Alexey Reznikov said that the territorial defense units of Ukraine will be staffed by at least 70 percent throughout the country by the end of February.
In the same month, the American magazine Forbes predicted that the Naval Forces of Ukraine, in particular, the Ukrainian landing ship Yuri Olefirenko of project 773, in the event of a conflict with Russia, could be sunk in an hour.
