Rostec United Engine Corporation has created an automatic control system (ACS) for the new PD-8 aircraft engine, which is planned to be equipped with the SSJ-NEW passenger liner. The equipment controlling the operation of the power plant, including thrust parameters and fuel consumption, is assembled on the basis of 100% Russian components and materials.
The specialists of the Perm company "ODK-STAR" completed the development of the PD-8 ACS in record time – from the moment of signing the terms of reference to the assembly of the first sample, only a year and a half passed. The start of serial production of the equipment is scheduled for 2023 after the qualification work and obtaining permits.
"The automatic control system for the PD-8 engine, which will be equipped with the import-substituted SSJ-NEW liner, will be assembled from completely domestic materials and electronic components. It has high resource indicators and is resistant to failures. In January 2022, the system will complete debugging and testing at the stands, after which it will be transferred for bench testing as part of the engine," said Vladimir Artyakov, First Deputy General Director of Rostec State Corporation.
Recall that in 2021, Rostec presented the PD-8 gas generator at MAX – the "heart" of the PD-8 engine. At the moment, two copies of the gas generator have been assembled, which have been successfully tested. As part of the tests, the correct operation of the nodes, the required temperature and pressure parameters, compliance with environmental standards were confirmed. Obtaining a type certificate for PD-8 is scheduled for 2023.
The creation of the PD-8 propulsion system for use on SSJ-NEW aircraft is being carried out in a wide cooperation of UEC enterprises using the experience of creating the PD-14 engine.
