MOSCOW, January 25. /tass/. The launch of the radar spacecraft "Obzor-R", previously scheduled for 2022, has been postponed to 2023. This was announced by the General Director of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin on Tuesday.
"This year we are launching our first radar device "Condor". In 2023, there will be two more spacecraft, including the Obzor-R and another Condor," Rogozin said during the plenary session of the XLVI Academic Readings on Cosmonautics in memory of S. P. Korolev (Royal Readings).
According to the head of Roscosmos, now there are more than one and a half hundred Russian satellites in orbit together with the spacecraft of the Ministry of Defense. But this is not enough, because radar is needed, he added.
Earlier, the press service of the Progress Rocket and Space Center told TASS that the locator for the Obzor-R radar spacecraft being created in Russia will be delivered in early 2022.
In April last year, the NPO Mashinostroeniya (part of KTRV) reported that the company manufactures two radar devices of the Condor-FKA series.
