TSAMTO, January 25. The Air Forces of Argentina and Colombia are analyzing proposals for the purchase of F-16A/B MLU "Fighting Falcon" fighters in service, which the Danish Air Force is currently replacing with new F-35 "Lightning-2".
As reported by the Argentine website Pucara.org In both cases, the proposals were made by the United States under the Foreign Military Sales Program (FMS) and do not yet include weapons.
In particular, Argentina requested 12 aircraft, including air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons, as well as, in addition, at least one KC-135R Stratotanker tanker.
The Argentine Air Force plans to make a decision on the choice of American (decommissioned from the Danish Air Force) F-16A/B or Chinese JF-17 "Thunder" already in 2022. The remaining proposals received do not meet the requirements of the Argentine Air Force, so at the moment they are practically not considered.
In the case of Colombia, negotiations are underway regarding the purchase of six aircraft. In the coming days, a commission of the Colombian Air Force will arrive in Denmark to analyze the technical condition of the proposed fighters. Danish F-16A/B are offered to the Colombian Air Force at a price of $15 million per unit.
