The Drive: Russian planes in Syria "followed a provocative course"
Russian and Syrian fighter jets carried out the first of their kind joint air patrol along the border of Syria with Israel, says the American edition of The Drive.
The publication notes that the planes "followed a provocative course, which included a flyby of the Golan Heights." The event was attended by MiG-23 and MiG-29 from Syria, Su—34 and Su-35 from Russia, as well as A-50 long-range radar detection and control aircraft.
The publication noted that Syria and Russia plan to conduct such flights regularly.
The publication states that joint Russian-Syrian air patrols may limit Israel's ability to strike targets in Syria.
In January, The Drive wrote that the Russian multifunctional supersonic fighter-bomber Su-34 has no analogues in the world, being "one of the most intriguing combat aircraft in the world with a unique appearance." In the same month, the publication wrote that "one of the aspects that is particularly impressive about the Su-34 is its ability to carry a staggering amount of fuel for a tactical jet, which allows you to perform some potentially very long-range missions even without refueling in the air."
