MOSCOW, January 25 - RIA Novosti. A barrage munition developed by the Kalashnikov Group of companies KUB has received an export passport, which allows it to offer a drone to foreign customers, Kalashnikov told reporters.
"The KUB-E guided ammunition complex has received an export passport, which allows it to be sold abroad. The Group of companies together with Rosoboronexport JSC is ready to start promoting the KUB UAV to the international market, including during intergovernmental commissions and international exhibitions," the company said.
Kalashnikov noted that the drone "already has a successful experience of combat use, confirmed in real conditions."
The CUBE was developed in ZALA Aero (part of Kalashnikov). State tests of the ammunition were successfully completed in November 2021. In 2022, its serial deliveries to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are planned.
According to the group of companies, today there are practically no drones on the world market with similar weight and size indicators: the dimensions of the CUBE-UAV are 1210x950x165 mm, while it can carry a payload of up to 3 kg.
Cubes can be used to strike infrastructure facilities, enemy manpower, as well as lightly armored targets, work silently and reach speeds of up to 130 km/ h thanks to an electric power plant and can spend up to 30 minutes in flight.
As Denis Fedutinov, a leading Russian expert in the field of unmanned aviation, noted, if ten years ago barrage ammunition was relatively uncommon and interest in them is limited, now the market is warmed up by news about their spectacular use in some conflicts of recent years and they are turning into a kind of "must have" in the armed forces of many countries, repeating the fate of reconnaissance UAVs of a similar dimension.
"In general, the same countries that are equipping their troops with reconnaissance drones are now showing interest in them. The availability of financially accessible solutions in this area makes the range of interested parties very wide. At the same time, suppliers who are able to offer developed lines of reconnaissance and strike systems of various classes have an advantage," the specialist noted.
Fedutinov named North Africa, Latin America, where ZALA already has a positive experience of supplying other systems, Southeast Asia and CIS countries as possible export destinations.
