In 2022, the Central Military District (CVO) will hold five major exercises with combat launches of anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) of air defense units at training grounds in the Astrakhan Region and the Republic of Buryatia. This was reported to journalists by the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin.
"Combat crews of the S-400 Triumph, S-300 Favorit anti-aircraft missile systems and the Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile gun systems will take part in five major exercises of the air defense forces in 2022. They will work out the whole complex of combat training tasks and will make combat missile launches at targets simulating the means of an air attack of a simulated enemy," he said.
The press service of the Central Military District clarified that during the exercises, the servicemen will make combined multi-kilometer marches to distant ranges, work out a set of tasks for equipping firing positions, changing areas of deployment and self-concealment of air defense systems. About 2,000 military personnel from combat crews, command posts and management officers, as well as more than 500 units of weapons and military equipment will be involved in the exercises.
The Central Military District is stationed on the territory of three federal districts and 29 subjects of the Russian Federation. The district structurally includes a number of foreign facilities: the 201st military base on the territory of Tajikistan, the joint military base in Kyrgyzstan, as well as units on the territory of Kazakhstan.
