As the commander of the division of the 1st Army of the Air Defense-Missile Defense of the Aerospace Forces, Major General Sergei Grabchuk, told the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda, interdepartmental tests of a new anti-missile were completed last year.
"The combat crews of the military units of the compound and the 10th test site, together with the specialists of the military-industrial complex, successfully conducted a series of test launches, during which it confirmed the inherent characteristics," the Major General said and added that the missile will be put into service in the near future.
The introduction of a new missile defense system will significantly expand the area of destruction of the missile defense system, as well as increase the accuracy of guidance and the ability to defeat various classes of targets.
According to reports, we are talking about testing an improved 53T6 anti-missile, which is known in NATO as Gazelle. The tactical and technical data of the rocket are secret, but it is known from open sources that the rocket has a new engine and modern electronic equipment. As a result, the flight speed of the anti-missile, which destroys the enemy's combat units, is more than three kilometers per second.
