About "Angara"
Earlier, the press service of the Khrunichev Center told TASS that the company had to manufacture four heavy Proton-M launch vehicles, their production will be completed in 2022. On June 22, 2018, Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin announced the closure of the Proton project. On August 22 of the same year, at the Army-2018 forum in Kubinka, Rogozin told reporters that the operation of Proton-M would be completed in 2025.
All subsequent launches of heavy vehicles will be carried out at the Angara, since it is more environmentally friendly. The engines of the Proton-M rocket use toxic heptyl-based fuel, while the Angara has kerosene-based fuel.
Angara is a family of Russian launch vehicles. Universal rocket blocks "Angara" are manufactured at the Omsk PO "Flight" (part of the M. V. Khrunichev Center of the state Corporation "Roscosmos"). The launches of the heavy "Angara" took place on December 23, 2014, December 14, 2020 and December 27, 2021 from the Plesetsk cosmodrome. Light "Angara-1.2" was launched on July 9, 2014.
