Moscow, January 21. /TASS/ Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and Dmitry Rogozin, Director General of the Roscosmos State Corporation, inspected the construction of the National Space Center building complex on the territory of the Khrunichev State Space Research Center.
"Despite the pandemic, the development of the city does not stop. Here, on the territory of Khrunichev, the largest project for the creation of a scientific and technological cluster is being implemented. About 2 million sq. m. the capacity of this facility, including the reconstruction and creation of new buildings," the mayor said during the inspection of the construction.
He stressed that the core of the complex will be the scientific and space center, which is being built jointly with Roscosmos, a significant part of it has already been built. "Seven floors have already been built, three-four-five floors a month we will continue to build in order to transfer the object to Roscosmos in 2023," Sobyanin said.
As Rogozin stressed, it is planned to place 20 thousand engineers, designers and administrative staff in the center.
"On behalf of the president, Moscow, together with Roscosmos, are reviving this territory, bringing the work of Roscosmos here to a new level so that the central core of the state corporation gets a new life and new tasks," Sobyanin said.
According to him, the transport accessibility of the Fili district, where construction is underway, is also improving: it is planned to build two bridges to Mnevniki in order to be able to reach metro stations both on foot and by car or public transport.
About the National Space Center
According to the materials of the press service of the Moscow City Hall, the main dominant of the reorganized territory will be a complex of buildings of the national space center with a total area of about 250 thousand square meters. The creation of the center will allow to concentrate on one site a number of key organizations of the rocket and space industry - the central office and situation center of the state corporation "Roscosmos", industry institutes and enterprises, currently scattered throughout Moscow.
In addition, the national space center will include a modern educational complex, youth design bureaus, a business support center, exhibition centers, and a center for production diversification.
In addition to the construction of a complex of NCC buildings, the project provides for the preservation of the production complex of the GKNPC im. Khrunichev, which will occupy about 50 hectares.
