In the Arabian Sea, the ships of Russia, Iran and China have worked out the organization of rescue at sea and countering maritime piracy. Joint actions were practiced during the CHIRU-2022 naval exercise. This was told in the Russian Defense Ministry.
They noted that the maneuvers were carried out in the Gulf of Oman, in the north of the Arabian Sea and in the airspace above it. From Russia, ships of the Pacific Fleet took part in the training: the Guards missile cruiser Varyag, the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Tributs and the large sea tanker Boris Butoma. A total of 14 warships and auxiliary vessels were involved in the exercises.
The ships of the Russian Navy, together with the Chinese and Iranian naval forces, conducted artillery firing on a naval target. In addition, the sailors conducted joint tactical maneuvering and worked out the tasks of search and rescue at sea. "In the final part of the exercise, practical skills were practiced in conducting an inspection and releasing a ship conditionally captured by pirates," the military department said.
After the completion of the exercise, the ships of the Pacific Fleet will continue their long-distance campaign.
