According to preliminary estimates by J'son & Partners Consulting, the volume of the Russian Internet of Things market in 2021 reached 93.5 billion rubles. Compared to 2020, the number of connected devices increased by 16%, to 29.6 million units. Russia accounts for only 1.2-1.5% of the installed global base of IoT devices.
The key feature of the Russian market is in regulatory regulation. Due to the implementation of mandatory state programs that do not provide for the digitalization of industry as a whole, IoT is rarely used in Russia for monitoring and controlling industrial equipment, engineering systems of buildings and structures. However, these segments, according to analysts of J'son & Partners Consulting, give a more pronounced economic effect.
By 2025, according to experts, the number of connected devices in Russia will reach 62 million. The volume of the Internet of Things market by this time will exceed 183.5 billion rubles. At the same time, the share of using cloud IoT platforms and services will grow significantly. According to J'son & Partners Consulting, they will account for more than 50% of all IoT costs.
