Ukraine wants to build a cosmodrome on the Black Sea coast
Participants of the founding conference of the All-Ukrainian Association of Innovation and Space Clusters wanted to build a cosmodrome in Ukraine. As a location, they proposed the border of the Odessa and Mykolaiv regions near the Black Sea coast, Ukrinform reports. It is noted that the construction of the facility will require coordination with Turkey due to the risk of the second stage of the launch vehicle falling on its territory.
"While the cosmodrome is not being built in Ukraine, because our territory is densely populated. And when constructing such an object, certain requirements must be met. In particular, a deserted territory is needed — at least 500 kilometers under the flight path of launch vehicles and important national economic facilities 200 kilometers in both directions from this route," said the chairman of the Odessa Regional State Administration Sergey Grinevetsky.
Earlier it became known that representatives of the state corporation "Roscosmos" and the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Belarus plan to hold a meeting in late January - early February in Moscow. The parties will discuss the implementation of the project on the flight of a citizen of Belarus into space.
