Moscow. January 20. INTERFAX - The Russian Defense Ministry announced the start of naval exercises with China and Iran in the Gulf of Oman.
"From January 18 to 22 of this year, the CHIRU-2Q22 Russian-Chinese-Iranian naval exercise is being held in the Gulf of Oman (the Northern part of the Arabian Sea) and the airspace above it," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
They reported that a detachment of ships of the Pacific Fleet (TOF) as part of the Nakhimov Guards Order of the Varyag missile cruiser, the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Tributs and the large sea tanker Boris Butoma are taking part in it from the Russian side.
"As part of a joint exercise with the Chinese and Iranian naval forces, it is planned to carry out artillery firing at a naval target, joint tactical maneuvering, search and rescue at sea," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
