Washington. January 20. INTERFAX - Any crossing of the border with Ukraine by Russian troops will be considered by Washington as an invasion, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.
"If any Russian troops cross the border into Ukraine, it will be a new invasion, and it will face a swift, harsh and unified response from the United States and our allies," the official said in a statement.
At the same time, she noted that "President Biden made it clear to the President of Russia."
Psaki said Biden "knows from years of experience that the Russians have an extensive arsenal of aggressive actions."
In addition to the military itself, they include "cyberattacks and paramilitary tactics."
She added that at the end of the press conference Biden confirmed that "these acts of Russian aggression" are also waiting for a "decisive and unified response."
As reported, at a press conference, the US president warned that Russia would face catastrophic consequences for its economy if it invaded Ukraine.
"If they do (in Ukraine - IF) what they are capable of doing, it will be a disaster for Russia. Our allies and partners are ready to take tough measures that will cause significant damage to Russia and the Russian economy," he said.
