MOSCOW, January 19. /tass/. The Resurs-P satellite No. 1, which worked in orbit for 3.5 years longer than the prescribed period, was withdrawn from the grouping due to the failure of its onboard equipment. This was announced to TASS by the General Director of Progress Rocket and Space Center JSC (part of Roscosmos) Dmitry Baranov.

"At the end of December 2021, the spacecraft (spacecraft - approx. TASS) Resource-P No. 1 was withdrawn from the grouping after eight and a half years of operation in orbit due to the failure of onboard equipment due to resource generation," he said.

At the moment, the general director of the satellite manufacturer specified, the Resurs-P spacecraft No. 3 is in orbit. There are two such satellites in different stages of readiness on Earth. In particular, the Resurs-P No. 4 device has been assembled and is being tested. "According to the work schedule, the arrival of onboard equipment for this spacecraft is expected in the spring. The launch date will be determined based on the delivery dates," Baranov said.

The assembly of Resource-P compartments No. 5 without a number of systems was completed in the assembly shop of the enterprise. "The delivery of equipment for the device is expected at the end of summer 2023. The Resurs-P spacecraft No. 5 is scheduled to be sent to the cosmodrome by the end of 2023," the agency interlocutor added.

Resurs-P spacecraft are designed for highly detailed, wide-ranging and hyperspectral optical-electronic observation of the Earth's surface in the interests of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Agriculture, Rosreestr, Roshydromet and Rosrybolovstvo. The period of active existence in orbit is five years. The fourth and fifth Resurs-P satellites are planned to be launched using Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicles from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

Also, the Progress RCC has already begun manufacturing the first new-generation Resurs-PM satellites, which should replace the Resurs-P series devices. The Resurs-PM devices will have to shoot with a resolution of 0.4 m, while the Resurs-P camera shoots with a resolution of 1 m.
