Russia, Iran and China will hold joint naval exercises. This was reported on Tuesday, January 18, by the press service of the Pacific Fleet.
The day before, a detachment of ships of the Pacific Fleet (TOF) as part of the Nakhimov Guards Order of the Varyag missile cruiser, the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Tributs and the large sea tanker Boris Butoma had already anchored at the roadstead of the port of Chahbehar in Iran. It is noted that an official delegation of the Russian Navy will take part in a conference on conducting trilateral exercises in the port.
It is planned that during the exercises the ships will visit the seas of several states. In addition, Russian vessels will replenish food, water and fuel supplies. A detachment of ships of the Pacific Fleet went on a long voyage from Vladivostok at the end of December last year.
According to the Russian Ambassador to Tehran Levan Dzhagaryan, the main task of the exercises is to work out actions to ensure the safety of international shipping and the fight against sea pirates. He noted in an interview with RIA Novosti that joint exercises will be held in the Persian Gulf region.
China and Iran are not the only countries with which Russia conducts exercises. Joint exercises with Belarus "Allied Resolve – 2022" will take place from February 10 to 20. According to the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Alexander Fomin, during the exercises, measures are planned to strengthen the protection of the state border to prevent the penetration of armed groups of militants, to block the channels of delivery of weapons and ammunition.
On Tuesday, January 18, it also became known that tests of the Kinzhal hypersonic complex were successfully completed in the Arctic. Testing of the complex in the northern latitudes went on for several years and was completed at the end of last year.
