YEKATERINBURG, January 18 - RIA Novosti. The exercises with the participation of 1 thousand servicemen began at the mountain ranges of the Russian military base in Tajikistan, the press service of the Central Military District reports.
Also, the servicemen will perform live firing from all types of small arms, grenade launchers, as well as from weapons of combat vehicles at targets simulating tracked, wheeled vehicles and enemy manpower. To create an environment as close to combat as possible, static and dynamic targets of various types are involved at the ranges, the Central Military District added.
The main purpose of tactical exercises is to check the combat readiness of motorized rifle units, their coherence in the performance of combat training tasks.
The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is Russia's largest military facility outside of its borders. It is located in two cities - Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It consists of motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance units, air defense units, RCB protection and communications.
