Hong Kong. January 17th. INTERFAX - North Korea has launched two short-range ballistic missiles, Yonhap reports, citing the South Korean military.
According to them, North Korea launched, presumably, two short-range ballistic missiles to the east from Sunan Airport in Pyongyang.
"Our military is currently monitoring and controlling the relevant (North Korean) movements and maintaining a state of readiness," the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said in a statement.
Earlier, the South Korean military reported that North Korea launched an unidentified projectile towards the Sea of Japan.
This is the fourth launch carried out by the DPRK this year.
The latest launch came just three days after the North launched two suspected short-range ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan from railway platforms.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of South Korea previously reported on the test launch of a missile from the North Korean province of Chagando on the border with China on January 11. On January 5, North Korea launched a hypersonic missile from the same area.
