The Royal Saudi Air Force was able to track down and destroy the Mi-24 fire support helicopter belonging to supporters of the Yemeni Shiite movement Ansar Allah (Houthis).
The coalition forces released video footage taken through the thermal imaging channel of the sighting system, through which, apparently, the precision-guided ammunition used during the attack was guided.
The rotorcraft was struck when it was on the ground in some mountainous desert region of the country. It is surprising that there was no disguise at all, perhaps the "chopper" was being prepared for the next flight. This may be evidenced by the ignition of refueled fuel tanks and the explosion of on-board ammunition.
It is reported that this is allegedly the third helicopter bombed recently, but the video materials have only been made public now.
The first data that the Houthis began to use the "twenty-fourth" during the fighting appeared in the first half of December last year. Then it became known that the Mi-24 in the mountainous area of Jabal al-Balak al-Sharqi in the south of Marib province attacked the enemy using unguided aircraft missiles.
Apparently, this victory will be credited to the pilots of one of the F-15s involved in air operations over Yemen. The Royal Air Force has an impressive fleet of such multi-purpose aircraft of various modifications, capable of taking on board up to 11,000 kg of various adjustable bombs and guided missiles. With their help, strikes are regularly carried out on the territory of a neighboring state.
At various times, it was reported about the destruction of air defense complexes, various armored vehicles, including main battle tanks.
