MOSCOW, January 13. /tass/. Roscosmos and NASA are consulting on extending the operation of the International Space Station (ISS) until 2030. This is stated in the presentation of the General Director of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin.
"Consultations are underway with NASA on extending the life of the ISS until 2030," the materials say. Rogozin clarified that on December 31, an official notification was received from the American side about the extension of their use of the ISS until 2030.
The materials report that an agreement has been reached with NASA regarding the implementation by the Russian side of engineering support for the Zarya module until 2024.
In addition, Roscosmos and NASA have prepared a draft agreement on cross-flights of US astronauts on Russian Soyuz and Russian cosmonauts on American ships, it is being coordinated with the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"A draft agreement on cross-flights of integrated crews to the ISS has been prepared and agreed with NASA (it is being approved by the Russian Foreign Ministry)," the presentation says.
Earlier, in an interview with The New York Times, the head of Roscosmos said that the state corporation plans to carry out one cross-flight per year with NASA in 2022-2024. He also clarified that cosmonaut Anna Kikina may be the first to fly on the American Crew Dragon ship under the cross-flight program in 2022. In turn, Kikina noted that she was pleasantly surprised by this decision of the management.
