It is planned, in particular, to work in the interests of national security at the Russian Orbital Service Station (ROSS). The tasks of a possible Russian replacement of the International Space Station (ISS) are revealed in the presentation of the General Director of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin. This is reported by TASS .
"The advantages of the new station are: transformable modular architecture, extended service life, work in the interests of national defense and security, use for the assembly of an interplanetary expedition complex," the material notes.
The advantages of ROSS are, in particular, the storage and maintenance of spacecraft, the station's ability to reconfigure, conducting scientific experiments, the availability of universal workplaces outside and inside the facility, and the commercial segment.
In December 2021, the head of NASA, Bill Nelson, said about the decision of US President Joe Biden to extend the life of the ISS until 2030.
In November of the same year, the director of Roscosmos for Advanced Programs and Science, Alexander Bloshenko, said that the preliminary design of the Russian orbital station would begin in 2022.
