The American Army is in search of new supersonic aviation capabilities. Yesterday, January 11, the press service of Boom Supersonic announced the signing of a contract with AFWERX and AFVentures divisions, which are part of the US Air Force and are engaged in the development of commercial technologies.
Contracts worth a total of $60 million are aimed at the development of the passenger supersonic airliner Overture. At the same time, Boom Supersonic indicates that in the future, a line of equipment for the US Air Force can be created on the basis of a civilian aircraft.

Boom Supersonic says that Overture will make its first flight in 2026, and three years later it will be able to start passenger air transportation. The aircraft will be able to reach speeds of up to Mach 1.7, will accommodate 65-88 passengers and, thanks to special fuel, will provide zero carbon emissions.
Earlier, the US Air Force funded Exosonic, which is also developing a supersonic passenger aircraft. For the Air Force, Exosonic will develop supersonic drones with minimal shock wave.
