Russian and Belarusian pilots conducted joint patrols of the borders of the Union State on SU-30SM fighters. This was announced on January 11 by the Ministry of Defense of Belarus.
"Belarusian and Russian pilots are performing tasks on joint patrolling of the air borders of the Union State on multi-purpose Su-30SM fighters," the ministry said in a Telegram message.
Earlier, on January 5, Belarus and Russia conducted the first joint patrol of the borders of the Union State in 2022.
Prior to that, on December 18, Russia sent long-range Tu-22MZ bombers to Belarus for joint patrolling of the Belarusian state border.
On the same day, the Deputy Secretary of State of the Security Council of Belarus, Major General Vladimir Archakov, said that the aircraft of the United States Air Force are conducting electronic reconnaissance to the entire depth of the territory of Belarus.
According to him, the US contingent near the Belarusian-Polish border has about 4 thousand people. At the same time, the States, under the agreement of August 15, 2020 on expanded defense cooperation between the United States and Poland, can increase the contingent by another 1 thousand people, as well as improve the existing military infrastructure for the deployment of about 20 thousand American servicemen.
Prior to that, on November 29, the head of the Belarusian Defense Ministry, Viktor Khrenin, said that the situation at the western and southern borders of Belarus was heating up. Minsk is forced to plan retaliatory measures. In addition, Khrenin noted that NATO countries are increasing the potential of the armed forces near the borders of Belarus: they are deploying military formations, purchasing modern weapons.
