MOSCOW, January 11. /tass/. The Russian Federation and the UAE are developing cooperation in the field of space, the countries have many opportunities for joint exploration of Mars and the Moon. This was stated in an interview with TASS by the UAE Ambassador to Moscow, Mohammed Ahmed al-Jaber.
"Of course, our countries have many opportunities for cooperation in the study of the Moon and Mars. In this context, it should be noted that the first cosmonaut of the United Arab Emirates was Hazzaa al-Mansouri as part of the crew of the Russian Soyuz MS-15 spacecraft," the diplomat noted.
He recalled that the Governments of the two countries signed an agreement on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes in February last year. And in October 2021, in Dubai, the parties agreed to expand cooperation in this area.
"The signed agreement will allow Russia and the UAE to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of satellite navigation, remote sensing of the Earth, monitoring of outer space, satellite telecommunications and communications, the creation of space technology, manned astronautics and scientific research in outer space," the ambassador said.
The diplomat also drew attention to the fact that in the first nine months of 2021, the trade turnover between Russia and the UAE amounted to more than $3.7 billion, an increase of 86.03% (about $ 1.7 billion) compared to the same period in 2020.
