"Torahs" can cover military units in places of deployment and on marches, as well as protect important civil and social facilities. Experts emphasize that the appearance of air defense systems in the south of Russia is a deterrent and a signal that the Russian Federation is strengthening its defense capability.
As sources in the military department told Izvestia, the Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) entered service with the newly formed 20th Guards Carpathian-Berlin Motorized Rifle Division. The anti-aircraft regiment of this compound is equipped with unique SAMs.
Currently, it is stationed in Volgograd and the Volgograd region. The division is part of the 8th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District, which was recreated in 2017 and, if necessary, will be able to operate against the southern flank of NATO.
