RIA Novosti: peacekeepers deployed Orlan-10 drones at Alma-Ata airport
Russian peacekeepers in Kazakhstan deployed Orlan-10 drones to monitor the surroundings of the Alma-Ata airport. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the head of the calculation of "Orlan-10" Artem Lifanov.
According to Lifanov, this complex allows you to adjust the actions of the CSTO peacekeepers.
"In order to launch, it is necessary to coordinate the airspace with the air traffic safety authorities, with the air defense forces, with the protection of the airfield, with the protection of other units, and also it is necessary to have interaction with the forces of neighboring states that are also in the area," the military commander explained.
Lifanov also added that the drones are in constant combat readiness. It is noted that thanks to the established interaction, it takes no more than 15 minutes for all approvals and access to the position.
It is reported that two calculations of Russian drones arrived in the area. For civilian aircraft, the airport's air harbor is still closed.
The decision of the Kazakh authorities to involve CSTO peacekeepers to suppress unrest in the republic became known on January 5. The first board with Russian troops arrived in Alma-Ata on January 6. A contingent from Belarus and Armenia was also sent to the republic. As the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev clarified, the peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will stay in the country until the situation in the country stabilizes.
