Moscow. January 11. INTERFAX - A new installation and test building at the Plesetsk cosmodrome located in the Arkhangelsk region will be put into operation significantly ahead of schedule, Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov said.
"At the Plesetsk cosmodrome, the new assembly and testing building is being commissioned significantly ahead of schedule, a year ahead of schedule! This is very important, because after such modernization, it is possible to fully launch rockets of various classes at the cosmodrome," Ivanov said in an interview published on Tuesday in Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
He clarified that "initially, the workshop was created for the Molniya and Cobalt spacecraft, which have already been discontinued."
"Now they are preparing for launches first the light "Angara-1.2PP", and then the heavy "Angara-A5". Let me remind you that Plesetsk is the northernmost cosmodrome in the world and the only cosmodrome in Europe," the deputy head of the Russian Defense Ministry stressed in an interview with the publication.
